Prt 2 of 2; Urban Decay Vice Palette Review

 Urban Decay Vice Palette Review

          Part 2 of 2
*Part 1 of 2, color swatches if you missed it*

First of all let get this outta the way. I'm not impressed. $59.00 for 20 eye shadows. That works out to $2.95 per shadow. It IS & ISN't a good deal. They were very chalky & when blended, lost its luster & became almost grey in color. There was a lot of waste & fall out. Messy.

So some of you are yelling at me to use them wet! Well I did. I'm not a fan of playing scientist while applying makeup. But I did, and found the color richer, but chunky. Not very blend-able.

After buying this palette, I feel dumb. Fancy case, nice big mirror, little brush. Shit for color. I just don't appreciate paying 58.99 in packaging & .01 go toward junk product. Sure you can argue "If you're a good enough makeup artist, you should be able to use any product.". ...yeah yeah, true. BUT!!! I don't have time for that. I have a heavy hand with makeup & I want to lay quick heavy color & blend away. I'm a wife & mother of 2 young girls. I don't have time to waste money & make a product work.

Now, the light shimmer colors are nice *when lightly applied*, but a lot of fall out & wasted product with the shimmers. Anonymous is a great brow highlighter. But 3 colors out of 20 isn't that great. Chaos was VERY CHALKY. Not build-able, horrible pigmentation. When try to pack on the color for the swatch, the more I put on, the more it would come off. It was very strange.

They say they have a new "patented pigment formula". You know what that means? More cost, less product. I'm tired if companies coming up with "new words" to sell their products. When I spell check, you know what always comes up misspelled....makeup companies phony words. Companies are trying to make it more than it is. There are a few companies that sell quality products *and I will share who*, most of it is over priced junk.

I WOULD RECOMMEND this palette to someone who wears VERY little eye makeup. A little swish here and there. This palette IS NOT for Color Freaks like me. It's was too over priced for what it is. My 120 palette kicks vice palettes ass any day of the week. *i paid $12.99 on eBay for my 120 palette!!!*

Sorry to be a buzz kill today, but I was pissed after trying this palette. So save your money guys & gals! There are far superior product at half the price.

UPDATE: This palette is slowing growing on me. I mainly use them to add color under the eye. Still do not use them if I have to blend.

REVIEW: MAKEUP FOR EVER & BODY SHOP! & my MisAdventures with Silica Based Makeup

       A Scary/Sad Situation
which turned me on to something Great!

So I have been eye balling the Make Up For Ever HD Complextion Starter Kit from Sephora. MONTHS!! I've been drooling over this set. Thinking THIS what I need to have flawless skin. It had amazing reviews on the site of people RAVING over this stuff. So the other day, I was doing a little "retail therapy" & decided to buy it.

$79.00
The kit comes with:
-0.5 oz HD Microperfecting Primer
-1.01 oz HD Invisible Cover Foundation
-0.17oz HD Mircofinish Powder
-HD Kabuki Brush

SUPER EXCITED!!

I get home & start trying it out. Love the texture of the HD Mircoperfecting Primer. It's an Oil-Free formula that is light weight & helps to minimize pores. I noticed that it helped to fill in acne scares & other wonderful imperfections that grace my face.

The HD Invisible Cover Foundation was a little to light of coverage for me. I have a lot to cover up. Color of the foundation was a little light for me too. *I would of liked one shade darker I think*

Then I finished with their Award-Winning HD Microfinish Powder. I really enjoy the brush that this kit comes with. The powder was nice, but again, I wasn't freaking out or anything.

So I go about my day...I notice that my skin is starting to get tight...a little dry...
THE NEXT DAY!!!
I woke up to find my face PEELING LIKE A SUNBURN! Dry & Crusty. Scaly Patches. Flaking Skin EVERYWHERE! I'm Freaking out at this point. My skin is so tight, Its causing wrinkles! *I'm 27!!*
*this is what my skin looked like*

So I washed & moisturize... & moisturize...AND MOISTURIZE!! Nothing was helping.
*So Bad, I couldn't pull my self to take a picture, sorry*

I call my BFF who used to be an In-Home Body Shop Consultant. *Shame on Body Shop for doing away with this program..boo!*

NEWAYS! I tell her about my skin & I need her to bring me a rescue kit ASAP! She knew JUST what to pull for me.

So until she got to my place, I starting digging to find what would have caused this. Another long story made short, I'm allergic to "Silica". MAKE UP FOR EVER use it in their primer, Silica Mirco Balls. Now, most people do not have any issues with Silica. I have pretty sensitive skin.

*INSIDE INFORMATION ABOUT ME: I am a Certified Licensed Esthetician & Makeup Artist. I have such a passion for Makeup, I went to school for it :D *

Back to the story: My BFF came over with some AMAZING PRODUCTS! *I kinda let my skin care go while I was pregnant & am just getting back into my routine*

Here is the list of products:

-Grapeseed Facial Exfoliator *normal/dry skin*
(Discontinued, try using Vitamin E Facial Exfoliator*

-Camomile Gental Eye Make-Up Remover *all skin types*

-Vitamin E Hydrating Toner *all skin types*

-Vitamin E Cream Cleanser *all skin types*

-Vitamin E Moisture Cream *all skin types*

-Aloe Protective Restoring Mask *Sensitive Skin*  (AMAZING!! OMG!)

-Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash *combination/oily skin*

-Seaweed Clarifying Toner *combination/oily skin*

-Seaweed Face Scrub *combination/oily skin*

-Seaweed Matting Day Cream *combination/oily skin*

-Cocoa Butter Creamy Body Wash

My girl comes prepared! She really hooked me up! She lets me try all of these products for a few days & then I buy the ones I LOVE from her.

I started with the makeup remover. I was nice. But i wear A LOT of makeup. It works better in the shower, when you can really lather it & make a huge mess about the situation. Im not a wash my face in a sink kind girl. Then used the Grapeseed Exfoliator, it was just right for my tender damaged skin. It was able to get off quite a bit of dead & damaged skin off. Then I used Vitamin E Cream Cleanser. So soft & smooth. Amazingly light, but yummy scent about it. I then used the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. Usually I would use toner in between each step to replenish PH levels, but since I was sampling these items, I didn't want to go crazy. Toner felt amazing on my skin! Fresh! At this point my skin is already looking 70% better!

Then I used the Aloe Protective Restoring Mask. I bought this product that night. Really amazing product. If you are suffering from super dry skin, this is the product for you. Heres how it works...Put a layer of it all over your face, leave for 20 mins, then wipe any off excess with a towel & rub remaining product into face. This is the product that put my face to 96% better! This was a pretty severe allergic reaction, so these things can take time to fully heal. I was thinking a week, not 2 days. Before bed I used the Vitamin E Moisture Cream. Smooth, light & blends into the skin very well.

I have yet to try the Seaweed Body Shop products. But my face is going back to normal *which means lots of oil* so I will add an update once I've tried them.

So my face is SOOO much better now! Yeah! But about the $79.00 I spent for such a crappy look? Sephora has a great & flexible return policy. I went & exchanged it for Urban Decays Vice Palette *Which is going to be another review*

So to sum EVERYTHING UP!
HD Complexion set was not for me. Not heavy enough & I was allergic to the Silica that was in the product. If you have minimum acne & not a lot of scarring, this might be for you. If you need a little more coverage, Id try MAC or another product.
Tried a slew of Body Shop products & LOVED everyone of them! They fixed/healed my face! Highly recommended!

Hope you enjoyed this adventure/review! Let me know what you think or any questions you might have! Thanks~

Halloween Look "Unzipped"

       Halloween Makeup Look
           "Unzipped"

So I did a Halloween Makeup look & thought I would share it! It's an Unzipped look. I saw this on Youtube a few years ago & always wanted to try it. I watched Petrilude's Youtube video & was totally inspired! Plus I have a thing for Men & Drag. *Kisses!* NEWAYS-

So FOUR YEARS LATER! I see this kit at Walmart. I've tried some of these kits before & its pretty hit or miss with them. This was definitely a hit. *I did add a lot of my own stuff though* BUT! This kit had everything I DIDN'T have.

This kit comes with:

-One Zipper

-One packet of Spirit Gum (very generous amount)

-One packet of Spirit Gum Remover (Ah-ha! we're thinking ahead here! I like that!)

-One packet of "Bloody Scab" (my favorite)

-Brush for applying Spirit Gum

-Two Makeup Sponges

-Palette of White & Black Makeup

I also picked up two .97 tube of Makeup/Face paint stuff (Red & White)

SO...here i am *the scariest part*
*I'm looking very silly right about now*
SO! I cut down the extra black trim on the zipper & took a lighter to the raw edge and sealed them. SIDE NOTE: I noticed a lot of people using liquid latex, tissue paper, wax, ALL KINDS OF SHIT Glued to their face to hide the wide fabric on the zipper* I was just doing a test run for Halloween, and didn't want/have time to commit to such work. SOoOoOo...I went this route.

Unzip zipper & play with it until you find a good spot/amount of zippiness desired. Then I applied a Generous amount of Spirit Gum to the back of the zipper. Spirit Gum can be messy FYI. Try not to get it all over the place like I did. Once dry & in place, I applied "My Face". SIDE NOTE: If anyone is interested in a tutorial or more information on the makeup leave me a comment. Until then, I'm skimming through this.

I added some fake eyelashes. Used some Sugarpill Cosmetics *My all time fave*, MAC *MAC's "Cyber" Lipstick is GREAT for bumps & bruises*, Vampires Blood, 120 Palette, Vice Palette Urban Decay, Smashbox...the list goes on.

And before you know it, I did this...

Again...this was a test run & first try @ Bloody Gore FX. But for a quick run through, I was pleased. After doing the look, I see LOTS of little details to add & things to fix. But that's the beauty of Test Runs.

Here are a few more shots:

That was my "Unzipped" Look! Hope you enjoyed! Let me know what ya think! <3
